Hey guys! I’m here with a quick post to let you know it’s that time of year again! The sunflowers are at peak bloom at Dorothea Dix Park!
The sunflower fields at Dix Park offer 5 acres of sunflowers and they are free to visit 7 days-a-week, from dawn to dusk. During peak bloom, more than 100,000 people from across the city and around the region visit the sunflowers at Dix Park!
In addition to the sunflower field being free to visit, parking is also free, AND pets are welcome! The Dix Park Sunflower site has all the info you need on the best places to park and the best routes to get there. (I’ve linked the site for you).
It’s currently peak bloom at Dix Park making it the perfect time to visit! In addition to walking the sunflower fields, you can also enjoy Food Trucks & Beer during peak bloom. Friday, July 21 from 5-9 pm, Saturday, July 22 from 11 am to 3 pm, and again from 5-9 pm, local Food Trucks will be onsite. On Saturday, July 22, visitors can enjoy acoustic music by local musicians and beer from Trophy Brewing from 5-8 pm. (*Dates are subject to change based on sunflower bloom and inclement weather)
I’m so glad I stepped outside my box and explored the sunflower fields at Dix Park! Raleigh is right in my backyard and part of my goal with my blog is to explore my hometown more. I was able to get some great photos, venture to a part of Raleigh I’ve never been to before, AND I learned some interesting facts about sunflowers, all by being willing to explore more outdoors!
Here are some facts I learned during my visit to the sunflower fields:
Thanks for reading and be sure to leave me a comment about other spots in Raleigh I should visit!
